Helen Laack
Helen Laack moved to Rochester in 2006 after having enjoyed living in five other states. Most of her career was spent with Prudential Financial where she filled a variety of roles, completing her time there managing compliance and ethics projects within the Corporate Audit department. Her interests outside of work have always revolved around her children, her faith, and her community.
Prior to her Prudential years, she spent several years in community development in Appalachia, taught middle school for a year, and began an extended volunteer involvement assisting in disaster response in many parts of the country. This included over a month managing a massive warehouse full of items donated after Hurricane Katrina. While living in Arizona, she became active within her neighborhood and that led to a role as co-chair of the citywide Scottsdale Visioning project.
Helen is now a “freelance volunteer,” actively involved in issues related to affordable housing, hospitality, and mentoring of young people, as well as efforts to address disparities in outcomes within our public schools. These activities have included membership on the school board’s Racial Equity Advisory Team (REAT), membership on the board of Bear Creek Development Corporation, hosting an exchange student, and welcoming local international students and families into our community.
